I returned in Royan this summer.

Île d'Oléron

The Ile d'Oleron is France's largest island after Corsica.Here you can eat good seafood. I tasted the "Huitre crue" from this region. Delicious! Is an island of the Atlantic coast of France.

Bez Bedene

A gorgeous village of 8 houses in north of Aveyron district. An ancient priory (hermitage established in the mid-11th century by the future Saint Gausbert) perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Selve river.The word "bedene" or "viadene" means the 10th roman route. There is a roman bridge part of this roman route.

Mougins

Mougins is a commune in Alpes Maritimes in south-east of France. Is about 50km far from Nice. Is a 15 minutes drive from Cannes.
Last week-end, I was invited to the wedding of a friend of mine. He choosed Mougins for the event.

I recommend you when you visit Entraygues-sur-Truyere to ask for Ferme Auberge de Mejanasserre.
A small place of Paradise. Where everybody can sleep or relax and eat good food.

Le Chateau de Fayet

Build during the Renaissance for the Castelnau family, then added on to by Jean V d'Arpajoun, the chateau, on the slight rise, was conceived for entertainingindeed. Henri IV once stayed here.

Abbaye de Sylvanes

Sylvanès is an architectural gem, one of the best known of its style in France and by all Romanesque art specialists abroad.

Estaing

The Estaing village is on the route of the important pilgrim trails to Santiago de Compostela.
The village is dominated by the Chateau of the Estaing family, also dating from the 15th century (currently owned by ex-President of France Valery Giscard d'Estaing). Estaing itself is a very attractive medieval town, with lots of fine medieval / renaissance houses to admire.

Entraygues-sur-Truyère

Entraygues-sur-Truyere is a small, charming medieval village, nestled in the junction of the flowing River Lot and River Truyere.
Vineyards situated on the precipitous slopes above the River Lot and the River Truyere produce red, white and rosé wines that are light and perfumed.
With my friends I visited a wine producer named Jean Marc Viguier.

Abbey of Saint Papoul

Founded during the 8th century, the Benedictine Abbey is closely linked to the figure of Saint Papoul. This evangelist of the Lauragais, a disciple of Saint Sernin, Toulouse's first bishop, was probably martyred in the area.

Saissac

In the heart of the "Montagne Noire" (Black Mountain), to the north-west of Carcassonne, the castle of Saissac stands on its terraces facing an exceptional landscape with the Pyrenees mountains on the horizon.Unfortunately we did'nt see the Pyrenees mountains that day because of the weather.

Carcassonne

The most beautiful fortified French town is Carcassonne.The town is separated into the fortified Cité de Carcassonne and the more expansive lower city, the ville basse.

Narbonne

Narbonne is a village in the southern France in the Languedoc Roussillon region.
In this town there is one of the famous national monument of France : the Narbonne Cathedral St.Just and St.Pasteur. The St-Just and St-Pasteur Cathedral (Narbonne Cathedral) and the neighboring Archbishop' Palace form a unique architectural ensemble.The architecture of the cathedral is Gothic style. It remains unfinished since the laying of the first stone in 1272. The plans required the partial demolition of the town wall, but the town council, fearing English invasion, refused to allow it. This, coupled with wars and epidemics, has left Narbonne Cathedral with only the choir and transept completed.
The town architecture is typique of south of France.

The Carnival of Albi (2009)

The last Sunday (22 February 2009), the Carnival of Albi ends. There was a procession of the 10 floats with card board giants animated by Albigensian associations.
The carnival of Albi is regarded as the greatest carnival of the South-West. 30.000 spectators gather in the streets, 1.000 volunteers are mobilized, and several millions confetti is released in the air.

I waked up in the morning and I saw this image on my window. It was very chilly.

Bordeaux

Nice town! I love it! The town is famous for its wine but for its splendid gothic cathedrals and 18th century mansions.
Palais de la bourse also known as Place Royale, this is a perfect example of Bordeaux architecture at the end of the 18th century. This is a beautiful line of archways and slate roofs, with an impressive fountain in the centre - a setting made even more magnificent when it is lit up at night. There is a superb view of the Garonne river's right bank from this square.
I was impressing to see an ancient church transformed into cinema hall and a chic bistro.
