Washington DC

Here I am! In the capital of USA, Washington DC. Founded on July 16, 1790 the City of Washington used to be a separate municipality within the District of Columbia. I am very excited to discover the live in this town. The District has three major natural flowing streams: the Potomac River, the Anacostia River, and Rock Creek. The Anacostia River and Rock Creek are tributaries of the Potomac River.
The architecture of Washington, D.C. varies greatly. Six of the top 10 buildings in the American Institute of Architects 2007 ranking of "America's Favorite Architecture" are located in the District of Columbia, including: the White House; the Washington National Cathedral; the Thomas Jefferson Memorial; the United States Capitol; the Lincoln Memorial; and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Mont Tremblant

Mont Tremblant is a Quebec, "chic" resort for ski vacation. About one and a half hours north of Montreal. It is best known as a ski destination, but also features a lake suitable for swimming, and a golf course in the summer months. The summit of Mont Tremblant is at an elevation of 875 m, which makes it one of the tallest peaks in the Laurentians mountains.

Parc Omega

An interesting idea/concept for a zoo park. The children of my cousin Catrina were very excited. We saw there buffalos, red deers, bears, wapitis, wolves...

Quebec City

Quebec City is the capital of the Canadian province of Quebec and is located within the Capitale-Nationale region. It is the second largest city in the province, after Montreal. Quebec City is about 233 kilometres away from Montreal. The birthplace of French civilization in North America, Québec City turns 400 this year(2008). It all started July 3, 1608, for the French-speaking people of the Americas. When Samuel de Champlain decided to settle in Kébec, “where the river narrows,” little did he suspect that it would mark the beginning of the great transatlantic French adventure. All previous colonization attempts had failed.
The St. Lawrence river is the history witness of the Quebec City.

Girls, don't forget that!

Montreal by night

My cousin Andreia invited me to make a tour of Montreal by night. We were on Saint Helen's island. It is situated immediately southeast of the Island of Montreal, in the extreme southwest of Quebec. Saint Helen's Island and Île Notre-Dame together make up Parc Jean-Drapeau (formerly Parc des Iles).
We had a beautiful weather with moon, that night.Mont Royal with his "Croix".There is an international fireworks festival in Montreal on this period of the year.

Trois-Rivières

Trois-Rivières is the economic and cultural hub of the Maurice region. It lies at the halfway point between Montreal and Quebec City, on the north shore of the St.Lawrence River across from the city of Becancour.

House of the Parliament of Canada (Ottawa)

The overall site is in a combination of the High Victorian Gothic, English garden, formal garden styles popular at the end of the 19th century. The Palace of Westminster and precinct had recently been rebuilt in a similar style, and the choice of a gothic rather than an American inspired neoclassical design, was a symbol of Canada's continued links to Britain.

The Parliament House of Canada can be visited inside.

The lower house, the House of Commons, is the dominant branch of the Canadian parliament. The chamber of the House of Commons is decorated in green and that of the Senate in red following the tradition of British Parliament.

Ottawa

Ottawa is the capital of Canada. It is the fourth largest municipality of Canada. As with other national capitals, the word "Ottawa" is also used to refer by metonymy to the country's federal government, especially as opposed to provincial or municipal authorities.

Mont Royal (Montreal)

The city of Montréal takes its name from Mont Royal, the hill behind the city which, in turn, was named by Jacques Cartier (we’ll get around to him shortly). Mont Royal is now public parkland and, without doubt, the jewel of the city – count a visit as a “must do”.
From there you can get a beautiful view of Montreal downtown.

Je me souviens

For more than one month I will be in the North East part of America. The first visit is Quebec region of Canada. The officially motto of this part of Canada is "Je me souviens" (I remember). This motto has been the subject of so much debate over the years. Nobody knows what the architect Eugene-Etienne Tache meant when he inscribed "Je me souviens" above the main door of the Parliament Building in Quebec City in 1883.
Quebec district is the only Canadian province with a predominantly French-speaking population and the only one whose sole official language is French at the provincial level. For a french guy I have some problems with the quebecoise accent.
The name "Quebec", which comes from the Algonquin word kepék meaning "(it) narrows", originally referred to the area around Quebec City where the Saint Lawrence River narrows to a cliff-lined gap. I think that Quebec without St. Lawrence River is like Paris without Tour Eifel.
Personally I will remember Canada.
I will visit next days Quebec, Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto.
